What now is called عطش ATASH عطش was founded in 2012 by Ulduz Ahmadzadeh, meaning „thirst, desire, crave“.
Ulduz Ahmadzadeh is a choreographer, dancer, researcher, activist, and community builder, as well as the artistic co-director and founder of the ATASH dance company. Together with co-director, scenographer, and researcher Till Krappmann, the artistic duo operates at the intersection of dance, performance, video, installation, documentation, theory and activism. Their practice explores an artistic dialogue and a living archive of dance practices from Southwest Asia, examining them from multidimensional and ontological perspectives, including technical, historical, and contemporary aspects. At the same time, they investigates the reciprocal relationships between social and physical spaces, creating arrangements that explore memory and relational dynamics. Through their work, they continually develop an artistic language and aesthetic that is rooted in Iranian culture and beyond. Using research-based processes, they recontextualise and reimagine knowledge systems and their complex connections, employing a feminist and decolonial approach.
