We all come from something.
Entering the cultural space means embracing heritage and legacy.Acknowledging the ancestors, the spirit, the totem and the awareness. We become the eyes, ears, mouths, and bodies of those who lived before us, revealing their knowledge and moving forward with agency.
The dancer’s body is nature itself. It connects past, present, and future, shifting weight, space, energy, aesthetics, and power. The goal is to fall into the d(tr)ance, where spirit is also alive in contemporary work.
Our work begins somewhere: engaging with cultural codes, gestures, and dances; learning from grandmothers, children, and masters; and referring to music, rhythms, recordings, texts, paintings, patterns, poetry, narratives, legends and myths. We collect, decode, codify, recontextualize and reimagine. Creating a toolbox, a living library, an archive. Through emancipatory, experimental, liberating, decolonizing and holistic practices, we move toward transcendence and a deeper shared understanding of the world. A process of physical transformation and metaphysical transmission.
Rooted in the past, we embody the capacity of the future in the present.
This is the research, the practice, the process, the DANCE.
